STOCK MARKET REVIEW: 26TH APRIL 2012

BSE Small-Cap index was down by 0.41% while the BSE Mid-Cap index finished 0.31% down.CNX MIDCAP 50 index was down 0.55% and S&P CNX 500 was down around 0.32%. The SENSEX closed 20 points down at 17,130 and the NIFTY stood at 5189, down by 13 points.

BSE SENSEX and NIFTY traded in a very tight and range bound session on TUESDAY ahead of APRIL future contract expiry today. Standard and Poor’s (S&P) rating over country’s outlook dented the sentiments took the markets down by 0.12 percent and 0.20 percent respectively. Investors looked cautious and booked profit over recent out performer Auto major HEROMOTO COMPANY fell 3.3 percent nearly on today’s session. However oil and gas stocks supported the fall as Index heavy weight GAIL and BPCL lost 3.66 percent and 2.95 percent respectively while Kotakbank and TCS capped the loss.
